New Employer Sign-Up
Since 1997, every state-fund (non-self-insured) company in Ohio - whether it is privately
owned or in the public sector - has been required to have a workers' compensation managed
care organization (MCO). The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) makes claim
determinations and pays compensation. MCOs are responsible for the medical management of
workplace injuries and illnesses. They are certified by BWC and are under contract with BWC
for these services, which means BWC pays us from employer premium funds to service
companies that select us as their MCO.
New employers must choose an MCO immediately, and we hope you will select University
CompCare. Sign-up is easy. There are two ways to select us:
- Call BWC at 1-800-OHIOBWC. You must have your employer policy number and
University Hospitals CompCare's MCO number, 10052, ready to select University Hospitals CompCare;
OR
- Click to fill out the
New Employer Enrollment
form and then submit form online or print and FAX it to University Hospitals CompCare at 1-800-654-3849.
If you want further information on the advantages of choosing University Hospitals CompCare,

There are many reasons for selecting University Hospitals CompCare as your MCO. Consider:
- We use a team approach, assigning a customer service representative, nurse case manager and billing staff member to every employer, ensuring a quick, knowledgeable and personal response to client questions and needs.
- We are an affiliate of University Hospitals Health System, one of Ohio's premier health care systems.
- This full-featured, easy-to-use Web site provides password-protected, anytime-access to claims and treatment data, which can be used to assist with OSHA-mandated recordkeeping and reporting, to track workers' compensation costs, and to identify safety training and return-to-work opportunities.
- Our network of BWC certified health care providers includes leading occupational medicine and rehabilitation providers in all 88 Ohio counties.
- We have earned Case Management Organization full accreditation from URAC, the premier organization for accreditation of case management services.
If you are not a new employer and therefore already have an MCO, you may switch to
University Hospitals CompCare only during open enrollment periods designated by BWC. Click to learn
