BWC Chief Focuses on Injury Prevention
Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Administrator/CEO James Conrad has called for a renewed focus on preventing injuries. He said he was concerned that recent workers’ compensation premium reductions might result in a “little less interest in safety.” That is unacceptable, he said. “We are doing well, but we have to do even more if we’re going to continue along these positive trends,” he said.
The keys to continued success include prevention; quick, quality treatment; and an emphasis on remain-at-work and return-to-work, Conrad said at a BWC-sponsored Workers’ Compensation University program. Zero injuries is the only responsible goal for safety programs to set, even though they may not attain that goal, another BWC official said during the program.
