BWC Offers Basic Written Safety Programs

Virtually every OSHA standard, best practices guide, and safety and health consultant say having a written program is critical for worker protection and OSHA compliance.

Many companies spend a lot of time developing a written program, and others pay consultants good money to do so. The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) apparently doesn’t believe it should be that hard or expensive.

Visit BWC on the Web at www.ohiobwc.com/employer/programs/safety/SamplePrograms.asp for free, unlimited access to several sample written programs. The programs can be copied from the site and used verbatim or as a starting point for creating a customized program.

Topics include: overall safety policy, bloodborne pathogens, electrical safety, emergency response, fire prevention, hazard communication, laboratory safety, lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment.
