Business Leaders Want Focus on Heart Disease, Stress, Depression

Heart disease, stress and depression will have more impact on American workers than any other health problems over the next 10 years, according to a survey of Fortune 1000 human resources executives.

Those top three health problems outpaced gastrointestinal disorders, allergies and respiratory maladies, cold/flu and addiction. The latter group of ailments will have the same or less impact as they do today on the future effectiveness of the work force.

Ninety percent of the executives surveyed said work force health is very important to business. However, approximately 40 percent of the respondents said corporate America is not doing an adequate job managing employee health.
