Active, physically fit employees do better work
Employees' level of physical fitness and activity can significantly
affect the quality and quantity of work performed, according to
results of a study published in the January 2004 issue of the
Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine .
The study found that more physically active workers reported higher
work quality and better overall job performance than their inactive
counterparts. As physical fitness increased, so did the quantity of
work performed. In addition, obese employees reported more difficulty
getting along with coworkers, while severely obese workers missed
significantly more days of work.
The study was led by Health Partners of Minneapolis.
