OSHA Identifies High-Rate Employers

Approximately 13,000 employers in 26 states, including Ohio, have been notified that their injury and illness rates are higher than average.

OSHA sent each affected employer a letter and also listed the 13,000 sites alphabetically by state on its Web site. Workplaces with eight or more injuries or illnesses resulting in lost work days or restricted activity for every 100 full-time workers; the national average is three instances for the same number of workers, according to OSHA.

Affected employers who do not respond to OSHA and do not address their serious hazards could end up on a priority list for OSHA inspections later this year.
