Special Focus on Hispanic Workers
OSHA has begun several special programs specifically designed to
protect the nation’s 14.5 million Hispanic workers, who comprise
11 percent of the work force. Among the programs are:
- A new Spanish-language Web site
(accessible from www.osha.gov)
designed to serve workers and Hispanic employers, who represent
America’s largest group of minority business owners.
- An alliance between OSHA and the Hispanic Contractors of
America, Inc. to promote safety and health training for Hispanic
construction workers and increased access to safety and health
resources in Spanish.
- Increased enforcement focus on what OSHA called "industries
where non-English-speaking workers are at greatest risk, such as
construction."
